The groupings are set at storied Congressional Country Club, where history meets a new chapter as it hosts its first-ever Senior PGA Championship. With a $3.5 million purse on the line, the spotlight turns to a featured group of legends looking to add to their legacies on a course that’s already seen six major championships. Here are four featured groups to follow in the 2025 Senior PGA Championship.

David Hutsell/Jason Caron/Stephen Ames

7:00 a.m. Hole 1

Stephen Ames headlines this group as a four-time PGA Tour Champions winner in 2023, continuing his consistent form into 2025. David Hutsell, a longtime PGA of America golf professional, returns to the Championship bringing deep experience from national club pro events. Jason Caron, a club pro standout and former PGA Tour player, continues his PGA Tour Champions run from a T4 in last year’s Senior PGA Championship and earning his way onto the senior circuit to 14th on the money list this season.

8:17 a.m. Hole 1

Ernie Els, a World Golf Hall of Famer, looks for redemption from holding the 54-hole lead in last year’s Senior PGA Championship. He arrives at the home of his 1997 U.S. Open triumph with some of the best form in the field. The Big Easy won the Champions Tour’s Mitsubishi Electric Championship to open the season, and hasn’t finished outside the top 20 in nine starts. Lee Janzen, a two-time U.S. Open champion, brings proven experience in major conditions. Paul Broadhurst rounds out the group as a past Senior PGA Championship winner from 2016.

1:15 p.m. Hole 10

This international powerhouse group features three legends with 60+ worldwide wins between them. Vijay Singh, a former world No. 1 and PGA Champion, remains a perennial threat on the Champions Tour. Jose Maria Olazabal, a two-time Masters winner, continues to bring his signature finesse to senior majors. Retief Goosen, the 2001 and 2004 U.S. Open champion, is in solid 2025 form with five top-10s, including a T9 at last week’s Regions Tradition.

1:48 p.m. Hole 10

Richard Bland headlines as he defends his title after winning in his Senior PGA debut last year. Miguel Angel Jimenez, one of the most colorful and accomplished players on the Champions Tour, is fresh off multiple top-10s in 2025 and remains a favorite with over a dozen senior wins. Alan Morin, a decorated PGA professional, has earned his way into the Championship for the fifth consecutive year after winning the 2024 Senior PGA Professional Championship last September.
