Matthew Cort

Matthew first picked up a club at age 12, but it was not until age 15 that he joined a club. Until that time, his efforts had been concentrated on football, playing left midfield for Leicester City Boys. But at the age of 15, he stopped playing football, and golf took over. Financed his early golf career by working in a glass factory during the winter. Admires Bernhard Langer for the way he manages himself and Gary Player for his fitness. Met one of his heroes during his debut in the Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2001, when he found himself on the range practicing next to Player. At the time, Matthew was reading Player's autobiography and asked the legendary South African golfer to sign it, which he duly did after a short lecture on sit-ups!

In 2022, Cort clinched his maiden PGA Professional Championship title at Slaley Hall.

Beyond his playing career, Cort is a dedicated coach, offering personalized instruction to golfers of all levels. His coaching philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach to the game, focusing on technical skills, mental resilience, and strategic play.

Played off and on the DP World tour, played full time in 2002, ''03, and '04. In 91 events, he had two top ten finishes in 2002, T-6th at the Volvo Scandinavian Masters and T-7th at the Diageo Scottish PGA Championship.

In 2025 finished 2nd in Legends Tour Qualifying school, earning a Legends Tour card. Played in 17 Legends event, finishing 12th on the Order of Merit with earnings of Euro212,578. Had six top-ten finishes; best was T-2nd at the Reignwood Legends Championship and 3rd at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open.
