Percy was born in Chelsea, Victoria, and turned professional in 1998. He joined the Korn Ferry Tour in 2005 but enjoyed little success, so he returned to Australia, where he won twice on the developmental Von Nida Tour in 2006.
Percy was back on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2008 and finished 8th place on the money list the following year, having had eight top 10 finishes, including two runner-up finishes, to graduate to the PGA Tour for 2010.
Since then, Percy has bounced back and forth between the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. He finished 168th on the FedEx Cup points list in 2010, 161st in 2011, and 158th in 2013. In 2014, he won the Price Cutter Charity Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour in a five-way playoff. He finished 15th on the final 2014 Korn Ferry Tour money list to secure his PGA Tour card for the 2014'15 season.
Over the next six seasons (2014 '15 through 2020 '21), he finished outside the top 125 on the FedEx Cup points list every year and thus was unable to retain his card. However, he finished in the top 150 in four of those six seasons and thus maintained conditional status on the PGA Tour most of that time.
He played in 172 Korn Ferry tour events, making 108 cuts and 29 top-10 finishes. His career earnings were $1,339,132.
He played full-time on the PGA Tour between 2010 and 2023 and made 220 starts. He made 124 cuts, with 12 top-ten finishes. His best finish was 2nd at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, losing a playoff to Jonathan Byrd, who made a hole-in-one on the fourth extra hole. In Percy's 11 seasons on the PGA Tour, he never made the FedEx Cup playoffs; his best year was 2021, when he finished 135th. Percy has only played in two majors, the 2003 and '10 British Open, missing the cut in both years.
With Percy turning 50 in May 2024, he entered the PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Tournament and was the medalist at TPC Scottsdale in the final stage. He made his first Championship Tour start at the KitchenAid PGA Championship, finishing T-21st. In 2024, he played in 16 PGA Tour Champions events with four top-ten finishes. He was 35th on the Schwab Cup list with earnings of $704,016. Best finish was 3rd at the American Family Insurance Championship. Ended his year with a T-5th finish at Simmons Bank Championship and T-26th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2025 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour Champions events with 12 top-ten finishes. He ranked 10th on the Schwab Cup list with earnings of $1,642,241. Best finish was 2nd, three times at the Principal Charity Classic, Stifel Charity Classic, and Constellation Furyk & Friends.
2026 Notes: Had hip surgery in December and made his first start at the Cologuard Classic, finishing T-21st. Was T-10th the next week at the Hoag Classic.
