Is a Teaching Professional at House of Golf Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. Has dominated the Australian Legends tour since turning 50 in 2016, and to the end of 2024 has won 42 events. Has played on the PGA Tour Champions Tour once, 63rd in the 2018 Insperity Invitational.
Played on the Australian Tour in his early days, while playing on the pro-am Tour in Australia and won over 100 Tournaments on that tour
Was a Club Pro for about 12 years at Maryborough in Qld, Miri golf Club in Malaysia, and Murray Downs golf club in Swan Hill, Vic, and won 3 Australian club pro championships in a row while at Murray Downs.
Currently playing on the Legends tour in Australia, and won the last 3 Order of Merit in a row and received an invite for the Insperity in Houston.
Had won 50 plus times on the Legends tour, with the highlight of winning the NSW Open at Thurgoona Golf Club. Played in the Sarazen in Spain and missed the cut by 1 shot then had to fly back home to go to Aussie tour school after arriving at 6.30 am for a 1.30 tee time
Received invite for the 2020 Senior PGA Championship.
Before playing Senior Golf, he spent four years driving a big truck at the Blackwater mines. He worked five days on and five days off, working 12-and-a-half-hour shifts on the days he worked. When he was finished working, he spent eight hours driving home to the Sunshine Coast. When he turned 50, his body couldn't take the time spent between jobs and driving the big truck.
Married Jacqui and have 2 children, Josh, 27, and Samantha, 29 years old.
Played three times on the PGA Tour Champions, T-63rd at the 2018 Insperity Invitational and missed the cut at the Senior PGA Championship. Also have won several senior events in Australia.
In 2025, he played a massive 78 events on the over-50s tour, banking 85,144 points. As the Order of Merit champion, Burns, who is now a six-time winner of the title, earns an exemption into the Senior PGA Championship.
Burns last won the Order of Merit title in 2020 and has finished second to Stolz in two years since then; the two players clearly were the dominant figures in Australian seniors golf during that period.
The 59-year-old's resume this year features 11 victories across Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales.
